After three months of surveillance, seventy Nigerians, three Cameroonians, two Papua New Guinea men and a Thai woman were arrested by the police in a special operation in the morning of 22 November 2011 to curb Internet scam.
The operation was carried out in a few places in Klang Valley including Ampang, Sentul, Petaling Jaya and Kepong from 11pm 21 November 2011 .
The Higher Education Ministry was also participated to verify on the status of those who entered the country on a student visa.
These scammers have done as many as 945 scams involving the loss of RM29.63 million from January to October.
Police have received information that many Africans mostly Nigerians who register as students, but are involved in scamming both Malaysians and foreigners through the Internet.
