Police rescued a 37-year-old Bangladeshi man from the hands of his kidnappers at a flat in Puchong today. Sepang police chief ACP Zahedi Ayob said the victim was unharmed. The man was tied and gagged when he was found in the flat at about noon.It is learnt that the victim’s wife had lodged a report on Monday night after her husband was taken into a taxi by two men.
Zahedi said the wife had later received a call from the kidnappers demanding a RM250,000 ransom.“She was told that if she reported the incident her husband would be killed.”However, the woman panicked after she could not come up with the ransom money.
Police traced the phone call to a place at the Puchong Industrial Park and investigations led them to a 38-year-old Bangladeshi suspect there.
Zahedi said the suspect later led police to a flat in Puchong Permai where the victim was rescued.Police detained a local man, 33, and an Indian national, 39, at the flat who are believed to be involved in the kidnapping.
Zahedi said investigations revealed that the Bangladeshi suspect had accused the victim of stealing an undisclosed amount of money.
The three men detained have been remanded for five days to facilitate investigations.
