Jeweller loses RM85,000 kept in unlocked car
KUANTAN: A jeweller lost RM85,000 to thieves who helped themselves to the money kept in a plastic bag under the driver's seat of his car when he had stopped to buy cigarettes and left the vehicle unlocked with the engine running here today. Mohd Yusof Mohamad, 47, had withdrawn RM25,000 from a bank in Jalan Abdul Aziz here and had placed together RM60,000 he had had with him in a plastic bag under the car seat and driven to his shop to pick up his child to send to school at 12.30pm.
He said a woman opened his car door, took out the plastic bag containing the money and fled in another car in which there were a man and another woman.
Mohd Yusof said he rushed to the bank where he had seen a Bangladeshi man behaving in a suspicious manner earlier but the man fled when he reached the bank.
