KOTA BARU: A 19-year-old teenager says she overcame three days of hunger to escape from her three abductors in Pahang before she was reunited with her family in Jalan Bayam here on Monday. Siti Mardiana Omar @ Rosli was weak and disoriented when a police team from Kuantan police station found her at an isolated area in Cherating on Monday.
Siti Mardiana said she was locked up in a house for three days without food or water after she was kidnapped near her house here on Thursday.
"I sneaked out of the house where I was held captive the moment I got the chance at 11pm on Sunday. I had to walk more than 12 hours before reaching the main road.
"I was lucky I still had five sen credit remaining on my pre-paid card. I alerted my parents with an SMS about my ordeal," she said, when met at her home yesterday.
Siti Mardiana, a former SM Kota Baru student, said her long walk to freedom took her down narrow roads and estates before she saw a road sign which helped her inform her parents of her whereabouts. "My abductors did not harm me while I was held captive. They did not ask for any ransom. I assume they kidnapped me for some other reason."
She said she managed to escape when there was only one of the abductors left in the house.
"When I saw the man going to the kitchen, I grabbed my headscarf and my handphone and sneaked out through the main door."
She said her abduction happened while she was returning home after buying fried noodles at a food stall near her house at 6.30pm.
Siti Mardiana said a Proton Saga with three men inside blocked her way before one of them opened a door and pulled her into the car.
"I could not scream as he covered my mouth with his hand. Then, I lost consciousness and could not remember what happened after that.
"When I woke up, I found myself in a house but I had no idea where the place was," said Siti Mardiana, who is the eldest of five.
Her father, Rosli Mamat, lodged a missing person report the same day when she failed to return home.
Rosli said as soon as he received his daughter's SMS, he informed the police who managed to locate her.
