KUANTAN: A couple lost RM15,000 worth of cash and valuables when their foreign maid ran away from their home in Taman Rasau Perdana here on Tuesday. They, however, considered themselves lucky because their year-old daughter was left unharmed.
The couple had returned from work at 6.45pm to find their house locked. They also heard their daughter crying inside the house.
Upon checking with neighbours, they learnt that their 39-year-old Indonesian maid had left earlier that day with a man on a motorcycle.
Norhaslina Mohd Jamil said her husband managed to gain entry into the house via the roof. They were shocked to discover the house had been ransacked.
"We found our daughter in our bedroom crying as she had not been fed or cleaned for over nine hours. "Our cash and valuables were gone," she said when met at her home yesterday.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Jasmani Yusoff said police were searching for the maid.
