Man kills relative with coconut scraper

A man who was slashed with a coconut scraper by his mentally disturbed relative has died.

Isahak Iming was sleeping when the man in his 40s entered the bedroom with the weapon at Kampung Bahagia in Batu Sapi on Wednesday.

Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Rowell Marong said family members, awakened by Isahak’s screams, rushed him to the hospital but the 59-year-old man succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect was apprehended by some villagers who handed him over to the police. He was sent to the hospital for observation.
