Over 100 Mat Rempit push their bikes to police HQ

Over a hundred Mat Rem­pit were forced to push their motorcycles for 8km to the Melaka Tengah police headquarters at Jalan Kota.

They had earlier been caught by the police and Road Transport Department (JPJ) officials.

The illegal racers turned heads as many of them took off their shirts during the journey.

This was the third joint operation in the state and 139 officials were in­­volved, stationed along main roads near the Malacca Historic City Council building in Ayer Keroh and at the junction near Taman Kota Laksama­na.

A total of 120 motorcycles and 109 cars were examined during the 1am operation yesterday, with 29 machi­nes seized for various offences.

Police issued 10 arrest warrants for illegal racing, while 84 cars were ordered to undergo checks at JPJ.

The police and JPJ also issued 52 and 16 summonses respectively for various offences, including driving without a licence and illegal modification.
