Smash, loot and go at traffic lights

1 year, 8 months ago at Section 16 on 09 Oct 2011 reported by dt

A smash-and-rob gang made three women drivers their victims by making off with their handbags within an hour at a traffic lights junction in Section 16 here.

A fourth woman driver was lucky as her car window did not shatter when the robbers tried to smash it.

All four cases happened between 7am and 8am on Sunday.

Despite police advice, all four had left their handbags on the passenger seat of their cars.

Luckily, none of them was injured.

Sources said two men were behind the robbery spree and they had been monitoring cars driven by the women before robbing them.

“Once their target was in sight, the robbers on a motorcycle would trail them until the traffic lights where they smashed the passenger seat window and grabbed the handbag before speeding off,” the sources said.
