Date: Tuesday,12th June 2012 at 6.30pm. It was a massive traffic jam and I have just passed the tollgate. The cars and lorries were stuck on the intersection leading to Sg Buloh (on the left), and on the bridge (leading to Sierramas/valencia), and also to Sri Damansara on the right. Two dark skinned robbers in sleeveless T-shirts attacked my car a BMW 325 and I was stunned by the shattering glass. The glass flew all over the car. It was a violent attack. Before I know it, his hands reached for the bottom of my car and he retrieved my haversack containing my Apple Macbook Air , hard disks and also my thumb drive. They ignored my tote bag on the car seat. Since my car was low, they could bend down and complete the robbery within five seconds. No one bothered to help. Not the two Chinese guys in the blue Proton saga next to me, nor the dude in his sunglasses sitting in his Proton behind me. Only a middle age Chinese lorry driver stopped to check how I was. No one could give chase as it was a massive traffic jam. I lost my life in the haversack. My research materials. I reported to the police at Desa Jaya and then again at Selayang. The whole police report exercise took between the hours of 7.00 to 10.30pm. Until today, neither PLUS ( whom I have written to immediately after the robbery) or the authorities (the police) have reverted to me. I am so very disgusted by what is happening around me, and I urge all Malaysians to be more careful.
The state of violence and property theft in this country has escalated and women no longer feels safe. One of my neighbours in the same neighbourhood was attacked in the previous month and the violent robber smashed her car window pane on the right side, and she experienced some cuts. Two of my girlfriends who drive the Mercedes C200 also experienced a similar attack, one in 2010, and one also in April 2012. I know of someone's relative who was walking and got stabbed and died. Similar attack by pillion drivers or Mat Rempits.
Women drivers of luxury cars, just be careful. Be very very careful.
Be Alert, Stay Safe.
(Note: They are four cameras scanning the road, and until today no one has checked and reverted to me on the crime. How sad?)
