SANDAKAN: A 15-year-old schoolgirl is believed to have been raped and strangled while on her way back from school.
The half-naked body of Form Three student Salanawati Sadarudin, still in her uniform, was found in some bushes here on Friday. She was just 2km from her house in Kampung Gum Gum Manis at Labuk Road.
Salanawati’s father had reported her missing on Thursday afternoon after she failed to return from school on Wednesday. It is learned that a member of the public stumbled upon her body at about 6pm and informed police.
Police have classified the case as murder.
