What is a crime-report?

A lot of us know what is a crime. But there have been complains and reports, previously from the public, that his/her report on crime to the Police have not been reported.

Well for the information of the public a report is on ly clasified as a crime case when an element of crime IS written in the report. For example see the difference between the 2 reports below.

No.1. On 29-11-2009 at about 10.00 am I was shopping along Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur. When I returned to my car at about 11.00 am I found my wallet missing. In my wallet were some case about RM300.00, my NRIC, my Maybank VISA card, my driving lisence.

No.2. On 29-11-2009 at about 10.00 am I was shopping along Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur when I felt someone told me that I had dropped something on the street. I bend down to pick up and at that time I felt someone touched my back pocket. When I stood up and check my back pocket I found my wallet missing. In my wallet were some caseh about RM300.00, my NRIC, my Maybank visa Card and my driving lisence. I believe someone have STOLEN my wallet.

Which report you think will be classified by the Police as a crime and an Investigation Paper will be opened and investigated i.e. Theft under the Penal Code and which one will be classified as "TERCICIR" - refer to NRIC , Bank and JPJ? Well No.1 report will be classified as "TERCICIR" and No.2 will be classified as "Theft". An Investigation Paper will be opened and the case investigated and the case will be added into the "Crime Stastitics". Report No.1 will not show or add into the Police Crime Statitics.
